Mezcal is an amazing spirit that remains fairly mysterious. There seems to be a persisting association with tequila - and it is made from agave - but the difference is extreme. The price tends to be a little extreme too, so it is no wonder that people shy away from fine Mezcal. The best association, with a known category, is with Islay Scotch Whisky. The smoky characteristic is what most people immediately think of when 'Islay' is mentioned and the same should be so for Mezcal. At this special tasting event world class, single village Mezcals will be sampled and discussed along side a familiar selection of Islay Whisky.
