One simple but maybe not obvious fact about e-mail marketing is that, you do need the e-mail address to send your promotion e-mail, but you don't need "to know" the e-mail address to send your promotion e-mail. Same thing goes for the other elements of high quality prospects: demographics, location, interests, history. Just like the e-mail address, as a store/business owner, you need only to know that there is this prospect with all these characteristics, but you don't really need to know "who" he/she is, as long as there's a way for you to send your promotion to him/her.
