So let me say first that I am not a business owner. But my biggest success has been to gain the trust of my clients. I have cultivated relationships with many of our advertisers to a "good friend" status. They trust me to advise them in a manner that will be beneficial to them. They know I'm looking out for them. As a valued media consultant that has helped their businesses grow, the ROI is evident. They also know they can consult me on decisions they make that are outside the advertising realm. "Trust" is golden.
When saying "or just likes", I have to think you're referring to social media. There's nothing wrong with social media. But as I've told all of my clients, if you're going to work social media, you must post daily. Your business can get lost in the feed. Now, do I think social media alone will...

When saying "or just likes", I have to think you're referring to social media. There's nothing wrong with social media. But as I've told all of my clients, if you're going to work social media, you must post daily. Your business can get lost in the feed. Now, do I think social media alone will make you flourish? No. The problem is you're putting all your eggs in one basket. Newspaper is dying and they know it. It's a very inefficient medium to put your advertising dollar. Television is having a difficult time coping with the fact that most shows are being recorded and played back in a way that allows them to skip the commercials. Even newscasts are being recorded for playback. But that doesn't necessarily mean you don't buy them. Again, you have to look at efficiency. Are you getting enough audience for the price? The advantage of television advertising is in the area of coveage. If you own a business that has multiple locations over a wide geographic area, that's a fit. Radio. Yes, I'm prejudiced, after all I work for radio. But the live announcers that you have in radio have much more influence in that people feel their listening to a friend that's talking to them. And regardless of what you choose, be sure you use your advertising message to point the listener/viewer to your Face Book page, plenty of studies show that you get more "likes"and views your social media and website.
Not trying to be flippant here, but copying your ideas really is the sincerest form of flattery. Happens all the time in the world of radio. So we strive to, just like you, beat them to the punchline. And we strive to take the high road. We don't bash the competition. We separate ourselves...

Not trying to be flippant here, but copying your ideas really is the sincerest form of flattery. Happens all the time in the world of radio. So we strive to, just like you, beat them to the punchline. And we strive to take the high road. We don't bash the competition. We separate ourselves from others at every opportunity. Your clients will see that you're always one step ahead. They will also come to know that you are all about the benefits your client will receive...not what you receive from your client. It's all about the customers you serve. But that's just my opinion. Keep trying to be the best you can be and the success will come!

Over the years Medical Center Pharmacy has grown vastly through the ownership’s expertise in business and leadership skills. From the acquisition of Advanced Care Medical Equipment to opening a new pharmacy in Ada; from recognition through PCAB accreditation to the acquisition of One Source pharmacies in Calera and Caddo, Medical Center Pharmacy has advanced in virtually every aspect. Ever growing and changing, Medical Center Pharmacy is now about to expand its ability to provide compounded medication such as hormone replacement therapy.
One of the factors in this tremendous growth has been the ownership’s belief in advertising. Not only is it an investment in their own business, the ownership is fully aware that building rapport with the community means getting and keeping your name in front of the public. By providing Health tips to listeners on KLBC FM, KBBC FM and KSEO AM/FM, the company has painted a benign, genial portrait of itself while being informative and relevant to the public. In addition, supporting local high school sports demonstrates again that Medical Center Pharmacy cares about its community.
Through experience, the ownership has come to find that when you periodically stop advertising, it takes twice the time to regain that name recognition. Top of mind awareness is key to weaving a company name into consumer’s lives.

I do not have a "closing line" per se. For me, I start closing with the first time I meet the potential client; whether it's an employee,or the decision maker. During this relationship building phase, I ask a lot of questions about why they got into the business, their experience and the product(s) or service(s) they offer. It's all about them. During that process, I generally pepper in information about our service and product without pushing our product or service on them. I echo the sentiment Maury and so many others have written, that you must establish need, desire, and value. When I finally present "the plan" in full, I shut up. It may be a little uncomfortable, but now it's the client's turn to express agreement and signs;or questions and objections if he is hesitant. If it's a "swing and a miss", the onus is on me. But I don't stop there. I come up with a better plan.

Most employee turn over that I've seen is due to a lack of good management. And this includes management at the highest level of the business or corporation, not just middle management in the trenches. Every accomplishment should be celebrated. We often criticize more than we compliment and praise. Recognition is everything...particularly if you are thin on raises or other perks. Everyone deserves to be praised. Often.
Management frequently doesn't take the time to just talk to their employees. And I don't mean by email. How are things at home? Is everything good on a personal level? How's their health?
Do they still enjoy what they do? Do they have all the materials and support they need to do their job effectively?
Does the manager have a pulse whether the employee is happy in his/her job?
Is the employee being utilized in ways that play to their natural strengths and talents? Or have we forced a square peg into a round hole?
Unfortunately, bad management is easy to find. We all falter. As managers, we should apologize for our poor judgement, lack of understanding or if we just flat make a mistake.
I agree that burn out is a big factor. But that can be minimized by an understanding manager who cares.
