How We Got Started

Founder, Dr. Joanna Smith, DNP, lost her mother, her Godmother and her brother to different types of cancer, leading her to a career in medicine as a Doctor of Nurse Practice — popularly called a Nurse Practitioner. Through those difficult times she observed first-hand what patients really wanted and needed and created IMI with those guiding principals at the forefront.

Nurse Practitioners like Dr. Smith and her clinic are well-equipped to integrate allopathic or Western Medicine, naturopathic, and complimentary alternative medicine principles under one healthcare practice; meaning, IMI will offer a broad range of options to better meet your specific needs.

Change can be uncomfortable and change can have financial implications as well. For the IMI Clinics, it has definitely changed the way we operate. As a business, we have integrated some strategies to become more efficient, "trim some fat" and find more cost effective processes, while doing our very best to maintain the highest level of safety we are able to achieve within our given parameters. Each day we remain in business and are able to care for patients is a day we are most grateful for.
