To start, every business will have a different system, so there are no 'one size fits all' answers.

How do you determine a budget? You need two figures: Client Lifetime Value and the cost to acquire a new client. Both of these will give you a figure that makes you a nice profit by keeping people as customers/clients.

Yes stay in contact with people. ( Email list-I send out weekly) Call, send texts. Be friendly. Be happy and excited about what I'm doing and tell them.

I use a customer retention company (CRM). They sent out quarterly postcards, do emails and also they email me a daily list of birthdays and people who need check ups.

What I do right now, after they buy a pie or two or many. I call them the next day just to say thank you. I also send out a e-newsletter. (I like the printed news better). Then I send out a custom made card to "Thanking them" for buying a pie. & ask for referrals. Now, I'm working on in developing referral partners.
