I think this is a universal question - and no right answer depending on your business/brand recognition/reputation.

We work strictly off referrals and have done for 20 years. We have no formal advertising. We have deep relationships and partnerships with our clients. Providing outstanding IT support and high quality customer support has enabled our customer retention to stay very high, and provide plenty of referral opportunities.

Having a fan page for your business in social media is a great place to start. I well build you one for $50.00. Having a facebook page is ok but it is close off for only who you add. Fan page is open to everyone.

I totally agree with Carson, referrals are really important; however, to grow your business at scale these days, you need to get new leads. Now you may ask how? Well you need to provide your customers with something that is valuable, that solves their problem for free, something for them to give you their contact info.
