Lot of good answers here. HOWEVER.... Do you have a brand strategy and a marketing strategy written out? They are two different things and often "shake hands" with all your marketing efforts.

Do you have an annual budget figured out? Monthly? Weekly?

Do you understand your customer base and how they will interact with various touch points of your brand?

Do you have a killer branding statement? Elevator pitch?
Does it get people asking you to tell them more?

What does your messaging look like, sound like?
How do you know? Have you tested it? (Marketing 101, test,... (more)

Edna,
Bare bones: Branding is mindshare. It's the perception people have about you, your company, your products, your company culture, your customers, your service and so on. It's like conceptual art.

A branding strategy focuses on developing mindshare and opinions about you, your services, products, company, company culture, etc. It can be approached through advertising and marketing, every touchpoint a client or potential client has with you and your company/product/service. It should run in tandem with your marketing strategy and advertising.

Hmm, so how does this differ from positioning or getting referrals from people? Its a little too vague for me. And it includes the perception people have of my website, logo, linkedin profile, etc.?

Well, it's not vague once you understand what branding is. A brand is a concept. And the original question was about the difference between a marketing strategy and a branding strategy. When you think about the Nike logo, what comes to mind? That's branding.

Keep in mind, a logo is not a brand. It's a brand asset. I could go into a whole discourse about what branding is and isn't, how to develop it, why it matters, etc, but that would become a seminar or a consultation. Now let me ask you a question. How is it someone who works at a marketing agency and knows... (more)

I did answer this earlier but perhaps it was taken down. the short version is I realized after talking to some people that just do branding, that it is more then I want to take on and learn so I outsource that or get clients that have branding in place. I help with the content and positioning and writing.

Hey, Jennifer! One of the big secrets to marketing on a budget is to figure out which outlets get you the most return for what you spend, then figure out how to use them the best way possible.

Here's a write up we just published that has a few suggestions, as well as a budget worksheet that will help you figure out exactly what you have available to put towards your marketing.

Check it out here: https://www.visceralconcepts.com/secret-marketing-...

If there are any questions I can answer, let me know.

Hi Jennifer,

You have a product that people would definitely be interested in. I would also try Instagram and use lots of relevant hashtags so people can find your posts. Snapchat might also be a good medium. And they're both FREE. Yay!

What about local farmer's markets/festivals, like the ones that are open on weekends only and it's outside? I don't know the cost, but maybe having a "booth" would be good exposure. Get a table, jazz it up from stuff at the dollar store, and leave out some samples for people to try out along with flyers with your contact info,... (more)

I can show you what to do NO COST or we can work within a certain budget and my firm can get it done. xxx xxx xxxx
