Web Designers, How Do You Reach Out to Find New Customers or Referrals?

Over the last 5+ years of running my own business, the biggest challenge has been finding new clients and projects. Referrals have been helpful, but that only goes so far. I'm wondering how other small business owners find clients and new customers? Do you find advertising helps, and if so, what kind of ads do you use? I have also debated about printing flyers, and direct mail, but I don't want to pursue options that won't help.

Great content that's not about you but about the problems people who might use your services would need.

Make it all about your audience and solving their problem and they'll find you. Just make sure you have a way to convert them into a lead. You're not going to sell directly to them when they find you but you can create a lasting relationship if you do it right.

Social Media! As Donna mentioned, Facebook ads are great for targeting, retargeting and providing value. Also, depending on what you are offering, LinkedIn is a powerful resource for leads. The number one way to get this answer is to take the time for professional consultation. Each business is different and there are several ways to go about building your customer base. It has to be what you can handle effectively and what fits well into your business scheme.
