Is the "Summer Sales Slump" Real Or Just an Excuse?

By Doug Cardinale · Posted on Monday, June 26, 2017 · Tagged in Asking for Advice

I've been in sales for just under a decade now, and I still can't come to a conclusion on this point. Do sales slump in the Summer months due to C-level DM's "checking out"? I've worked across a few different verticals, in two distinct regions of the U.S., and this is my fourth year in the Pacific NW. I would love to get some feedback on the Seattle market in this regard.

I spent a good portion of my life doing sales.. Hard truth Sales people make horrible prospectors.

As soon as they get on in the chamber all prospecting is forgotten. Without a full pipeline you will always hit slumps. Get a dedicated prospector that will keeps your leads pipeline full and you will avoid slumps.

Ralph I am not sure what trade your in as far as sales, and with you being in relationship markets why your not on top of mind im not sure. I have been marketing roughly three years in a 14 year business and my main focus has always been a past customer list as they are always easiest to market to as they have seen what your track record is with how you operate. Your list is your lifeline. I have even done mass texts to customers friends and family during rough patches and the second you stop marketing is the second that your income decreases. Summer months... (more)

Most people go into summer mode. The ones who continue to do the work will reap the rewards. This is a time for opportunity in corporate or small business. Many will slow down or not try by making excuses. In most cases the need is still there.
