Small business owners, over the last three weeks I've referred several clients to companies that do not have their digital information up to date and easy to find.
The first question they asked was why don't they have their marketing up to date if they know me? It makes me uncomfortable to explain the truth which is that they either haven't had time to get it set up correctly, don't think it is a priority, haven' learned from me yet, or in some cases just don't understand but I still think they are an expert in what I referred them to do.... Bottom line....This cost each of my friends a referral and income for their family or life.
Let's face it, we all want recommendations and referrals from our existing friends and clients. The best way to gain referrals is to have easy ways for your network to refer you. Make it easier for your friends so they can stop trying to convince the person of what you do and allow them to just say who you are to them, that you are great and will solve their problem.
Make sure your company is properly branded, available, searchable and most important give them an appropriate introductory landing page on every site you want to be found on. The more sites the better your organic SEO and opportunities to be viewed as an expert.
By 2020 over 50% of the searches for anything online will be voice controlled. It is critical to get this taken care of now and leverage time and show your potential clients that you are an expert at your industry AND that you understand how to leverage professional development methods so you will be in business for the long haul.
Lastly, one of the most important pieces of the referral chain is a properly branded html email with a sign up link embedded so they can forward in their friend's inbox.
Leverage and embrace technology that works and if you have questions about this feel free to ask! I hope this helps!
