I would not put the emphasis on tools. Tools are just that, tools. Way more important is having a strategy. Are you doing content marketing for lead gen? Advertising (AdWords, Facebook, other)? Social Media?
The answer to that determines the tools. At that point, it's mostly a matter of preference amongst the top tools.

For MarketingContent Creation: Adobe Spark Post, Adobe Comp, Adobe Photoshop Express (legacy replaced with Adobe Photoshop Mix), Graphic by Autodesk, & Assembly by Pixite. All of these are free or low cost Apps that I use in an Apple device to Mac environment from design drafts to final deployment into all Social Media platforms and for Website media. I have full Adobe Creative Cloud in my office and on my laptop but these are great for on-the-fly in meetings unique content that is fully my creative work and ownership that can be transferred to client.

While tools are important, strategy and execution beats all.

I personally like SEM Rush, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, SpyFU (for PPC) and Klaviyo (for email marketing).
