You may be asking a great question to the wrong group.

Few of the answers here have anything to do with SEO. Most realtors have no interaction with SEO.

SEO is usually a specialty function of web people, some copywriters (not me), and other specialists. End users benefit but, unless they are a 'trying to do everything myself' business, the function is allocated to a person or business that does it full time. Why? Because SEO changes so often. I could not agree more. SEO and social media marketing have become cottage industries. The rates for success using these marketing techniques is dismal at best. As you have pointed out, SEO is a muddled science mainly because its meaning has been twisted and exaggerated. SEO is not a marketing technique it is only a means of creating a website that is optimized to be found in search engine results. Both... the key is getting people to either link to your Blog post which will improve your SEO especially if they link using a keyword or phrase you want your website to rank for. Video's can be very easy to share, re-post, and embed into other media ie social sites, other peoples blogs, Web 2.0 properties like tumblr Blogger etc. The more sites your video is re-posted on generally the better SEO juice you will receive.
