Clean, friendly - what makes me stay is that I find a stylist that can cut my hair in a certain way that I like. Open to other styles, whenever I ask for a razor cut, they pull out the thinning shears. Most stylists don't know even know how to use thinning shears, much less a razor cut. I used to cut hair, my customers always liked the way I cut their hair, I listened to them for what they wanted in a haircut. Social conversations helped too. Hair is a people business. It is up close and personal, and the hair dresser is touching you. This is quite the invasion of personal space, this is one of the few businesses where like and trust is huge!

If as a hairdresser you cannot make your client comfortable, no matter how good of a cut it is you will lose them.

My hairdresser even though she does not recognize it is a very good salesperson, she keeps me entertained and chatting without missing a beat, and she will always try throwing in an upsell, and frequently gets it :-)
