One of my networking colleagues (mortgage company owner) in our Christian Business Partners group uses both an email video (educational interview format), and a printed template type newsletter with 'current event/trending information' for potential homeowners, that go to only his database of customers and previous proposals.

Depends on your target audience and the age of said audience. Older clients prefer printed material, while it is a balance for the mid aged audience, a younger client is all about the digital media.
