Retired as Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Want to assist others with investigative expertise gained in the preceding 28 years as a Special Agent.
Now, also a Staff Investigator with The Florida Bar in lawyer regulation since 1999.

I believe that the major effect of breaking down interpersonal communication remains with the youth of today who substitute texting for actual conversations and face to face contact.
Youth and millennials enter an elevator to go two floors and are on their phones the entire time. It appears to isolate them from any awkward conversations with anyone else.
As an experiment, a middle school teacher had her students sign a pact that for two weeks they would only call up the person with whom they wished to converse and not use any text. There were many awkward periods of silence as the students had lost their ability to interact in one on one situations. These observations could go on and on, but I will leave it at that.
Absolutely. Everyone needs to feel validated and their input worthwhile. I am just not sure how to facilitate that in different sizes of organizations.

Like culture differences, dating in any office, let alone a small office could be disastrous. I recommend that if you wish to seriously date someone in your office that one of you has to go elsewhere.
