PLAY is the way young children learn naturally...at Play & Grow PLAY is child-led, imagination-fed and we're working to make it more widespread!
How We Got Started
Whether as parent or preschool teacher I worked to give children an environment with experiences, materials and activities to let them explore, investigate, test and maybe re-test as they worked out the world around them, grew and developed. At the core was play.
Play is essential for the health and well-being of children. Play is the way children learn BEST; in fact it is the way their brains were designed to learn. There is a reason PLAY is at the heart of childhood: Play matters!
Play IS still at the core. In my role as Play Specialist and Toy Curator I create learning activities and play ideas that will engage children. I want their whole mind and body to be part of the experience--igniting their imagination, sparking their creativity and/or encouraging social development. I use the same criteria in reviewing toys or purchasing toys for the ToyChest. As a parent--now grandparent--I want to do what's BEST for children...and that's PLAY because #PlayMatters!
Our Ideal Customer
Play & Grow customers are 'parentals'-- parents or grandparents--of young children (0-5yrs) who want to give their child a solid foundation from which to grow and develop. They recognize the importance of the early childhood years as ones that set the stage for future learning as well as future success. They acknowledge they must supplement the amount of PLAY their child gets at home as it has sharply declined in schools and is limited in care facilities. They look to Play & Grow for ways to incorporate PLAY at home plus enrich and extend the. PLAY
