Bumbershoot, Inc. is a full-service writing and editing company that works with clients ranging from individuals to educational institutions to business entities. No matter what your needs, we can help you write and edit your materials so they will better reach and satisfy your clients.
How We Got Started
I obtained my degree in Zoology (cell biology) in 1986, but I had been freelance writing and editing for many years before that. In 2000, I decided that I could better serve my clients by incorporating my services under a company banner, and I have been connecting through that company ever since.

You are not responsible for the toxic atmosphere, and you should not have to pay the price by leaving. I would recommend two things: 1) Speak to someone in HR about what happened, making it very clear that this was a private matter, that this person violated your privacy, and that he/she should...

I would recommend two things: 1) Speak to someone in HR about what happened, making it very clear that this was a private matter, that this person violated your privacy, and that he/she should be held accountable for that. 2) Get out in front of the matter. Indicate that if your co-workers want to be talking about this, that you should be part of the conversation, that they shouldn't be doing this behind your back. You shouldn't have to explain yourself, but since you've been put in this position, make it clear that if anyone has any thoughts or concerns about you, they should address them to you. Make the issue a non-issue and the noise will die down.

My first priority is to make more people aware of the need for clear and effective communication in all aspects of their writing, from internal memos to customer letters to marketing copy. My second priority is to promote my own business as an easy and cost-effective solution for handling writing and editing issues. My third priority is to help my clients network with each other, creating a "bartering" system of services that will appeal to potential customers and clients and bring in more business for all involved.
I think marketing, whether traditional or electronic-based, is critical to the success of any business. Before you can do the work, you have to let everyone out there know you exist and you're capable of handling the work.
