I know my data, my client's financial data, and my processes are secure. We do bookkeeping, payroll and business advisory, so we have access to clients' financial data. It's got to be secure! And Cyber Security 4 Biz has done that for us! I sleep better at night knowing that the hardware and data are protected. Thanks Todd! And thanks to Jessica for recommending him to us!”

About Us

Cybersecurity4biz LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business dedicated to helping solopreneurs and micro businesses build secure, compliant foundations they can feel confident about.

Founder Todd Mitchell is a retired U.S. Navy cybersecurity leader with over 30 years of experience protecting confidential and sensitive information. After earning a Master’s in Cyber Security Policy and supporting high-level government and defense initiatives, Todd recognized that small businesses were often left without affordable, practical cybersecurity guidance. He made it his mission to close that gap.

Beyond client work, Todd is deeply involved in the business community. He serves as the Alignable Ambassador for the local Alignable Alliance of Southwest New Mexico and mentors other Ambassadors across the platform on how to start, grow, and sustain thriving Alliances. He believes networking is built on KNOW, LIKE, TRUST relationships — because referrals don’t happen without trust, and trust doesn’t happen without connection.

Todd is also an active Alignable Group Leader for the Cyber-security & Technology Group, the Business and Parenting Collaborative, and the Veteran Business Owners group. He regularly brings business owners together for virtual, in-person, and live events designed to foster meaningful relationships, community support, and professional growth.

As a volunteer educator and public speaker, Todd teaches prevention-focused cybersecurity. His approach emphasizes building a cyber-safe culture so businesses and families aren’t relying solely on monitoring tools or hoping insurance will save the day. He focuses on the human behaviors that create vulnerability — and how simple, structured changes can dramatically improve security.

He hosts the Cybersecurity Roundtable for Small Businesses (Real Talk, No Tech Jargon) on the fourth Thursday of each month: https://www.alignable.com/groups/ask-smb-owners...
He also frequently speaks at networking groups, webinars, seminars, panel discussions, podcasts, and community events on topics ranging from small business cybersecurity to helping parents and teens stay safe online.

At Cybersecurity4biz, cybersecurity isn’t about fear. It’s about clarity, culture, and confidence.

How We Got Started

The inspiration for Cybersecurity4biz came when Todd was in charge of designing software for the US Marine Corps Command and Control and implementing cybersecurity for the Defense Department. A friend’s small business suffered data loss (a DJ got hacked and lost all his music), and Todd was asked to find someone to help him. After searching everywhere Todd realized solopreneurs and small businesses had no access to affordable cybersecurity resources. Despite calling dozens of companies, Todd found no one willing to work with businesses with fewer than 250 computers.

Understanding that most small businesses can’t afford or don’t need enterprise-level solutions, Todd decided to fill the gap. After much encouragement from his friend, he left the corporate world to launch Cybersecurity4biz, offering practical, affordable solutions tailored to the needs of solopreneurs and micro-businesses. His mission? The “little guy” helping the “little guy”.

It may not be listed as extra on the menu, but they should tell you when you order that it cost extra. If I buy a $10 burger and it costs $12 at checkout I will ask to speak to the manager! no hidden charges! Every tax professional in the United States -- whether a member of a major accounting firm or an owner of a one-person storefront -- is a potential target for highly sophisticated, well-funded and technologically adept cybercriminals around the world. Think about it, the IRS form 1040 has names, addresses, birthdays, social security numbers, income, bank account numbers, phone number, email address, and a copy of your signature all on one page. Identity theft anyone??? Their objective: to steal your clients’ data so they can file fraudulent tax returns that better impersonate their victims and are harder to detect. Their tactics: using email, the phone or other means to trick you into giving up computer passwords, e-Services passwords, to steal your EFINs or CAF numbers or even to take remote control of your entire computer system. Protecting client data also is the law. Federal Trade Commission regulations require professional tax preparers to create and enact security plans to protect client data. Review IRS Publication 4557, Safeguarding Taxpayer Data PDF, for details and security recommendations. Also, see IRS Publication 5293, Data Theft Resource Guide for Tax Professionals PDF, for a roundup of IRS.gov information. No one can fight this crime alone. It takes all of us, working together.

Most cybersecurity best practices are more of changing settings and behaviors, being cyberaware and not about spending money. We protect families and small businesses data, devices, and personally identifiable information from online threats. Unlike other similar companies, we focus on the data not the network. Helping you build a cybersecurity aware culture to keep your most valuable assets safe.
