About Us

I currently serve as President of the Oregon-California Trails Association (octa-trails.org). The Oregon-California Trails Association (a non-profit, 501 (C) (3) Association) is the nation’s largest and most influential organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of overland emigrant trails and the emigrant experience. To accomplish our mission members and friends research and identify emigrant trails using maps, drones and satellite imagery to locate trail segments. Trails are marked and appropriate interpretive signage installed to provide the public with the historical significance of the location.

In addition, our Education Outreach committee provides lesson plans for use in schools throughout the nation coupled with a traveling trunk containing artifacts of the period (1840-1860). It is vitally important for future generations to understand and appreciate the commitment and sacrifice made by our forefathers who were involved in the greatest migration in American history. Development of the West and our nation would not have happened without those who, for the most part, walked over 2000 miles to reach their promise land.

How We Got Started

I started in Charitable Foundation management in 1981. Upon retiring in 2007 I began assisting charities seeking financial stability. This has also involved asset management for other clients. In 2019 the opportunity to help the Oregon-California Trails Association, as President, became possible.
