Shockwave Defense, LLC is a small business that trains and prepares individuals and groups how to prevent and survive high risk, high stress, and threatening situations at the office or in the field, through mental and physical empowerment. The company has a long record of proven past performance in delivering education and training in: self defense, work place violence, weapons training, active shooter, and concealed carry; all supported by team building, mental strengthening, empowerment, and leadership development skills.
Capabilities include, but are not limited to: formal training curriculums with customizable modules, train-the-trainer options, gun simulator, shoot house, hand-to-hand, escape and evasion from illegal restraint, survival, sniper training, self discipline, and a weight room and fitness facility. Classes include validation and testing instruments; and risk assessments are performed to ensure safety, and quality control.

The rich lineage of Shockwave Defense started back in the 20’s with Samuel K. Johnson who held black belts in Judo & Jiu- jitsu. His first & only student Steve Johnson continued to train in the arts under well known martial artists including Bruce Lee (1967-1969). Shockwave's Founder Michael Johnson trains with an approach from life conviction, behavioral psychology, & multiple black belt rankings. He holds a BA in criminology from UNM, & is the honorary squadron commander for the 512 Combat Rescue Squadron. He has done bodyguard work for celebrities such as Xzibit, and was the primary deadly force combative’s instructor for the Florida Department of Corrections. He is a NRA firearms instructor & professional lecture through New Mexico's Department of Public Safety. He teaches domestically and abroad including recent trips to Taiwan, and Yokoda AFB in Japan, The Tactical Response Team in South Africa, Cape Town, & Dubai. He has over 55 full contact stick/weapons fights.
