Yes. Conversely, having the ability to find a business' website or social media profile is something I look for, when researching vendors/services.   (more) Yes. My preference now, of course, is to meet in-person.  But, we're all learning to be flexible and respectful of varying preferences. If you are considering moving online, it's important to have your technology in place, such as having the ability for e-signatures, e-marketing material, social network presence, e-commerce purchasing options for your clients, e-invoices, etc.

Utilize social media to the fullest.  If you currently have a salesperson on your team, have them create business profiles and maintain regular content.   If your budget allows, hire (either fulltime or temporarily) a reputable and ESTABLISHED marketing person.  Many provide a free consultation and can outline the services they will provide.  Ask them for client references and ask to see results from this clients. Finally, good old-fashioned networking.  That can include Chambers of Commerce, Construction Associations, dropping off your business cards and marketing material to surrounding businesses/residents.   Host an Open House for your community, as a way for you and your business neighbors to network. You've got this!

Didn't even realize that was a thing.....speaks volumes of the business, if they have to rely on fabricated reviews. (more) Didn't even realize that was a thing.....speaks volumes of the business, if they have to rely on fabricated reviews.

(more) As a CPA, you can consider additional revenue streams, such as partnering with a payroll or PEO company, that would pay you to refer your business clients. Offer services you would not ordinarily provide, but consider doing short-term. Reevaluate some of your vendor relationships, and obtain quotes from competitor vendors, in an effort to save money. Contact your bank and inquire about lines of credit that would be available to you. Ensure that your social media presence is updated, and has fresh and current content. Consider evening or weekend hours, temporarily, to accommodate clients that work during the day.  Your competition may not be doing this. Look for ways to get free advertising.  Church bulletins, school newsletters, trade magazines.  Bartering with a friend can save money. Free tax returns in exchange for marketing ideas, for example. Contact SCORE. They are always looking for professional presenters, to provide workshops to business owners.  You could pick up a few clients. Score.org Good luck.  I hope you find some great ideas to employ in your business.

(more) We believe in transparency with pricing, right up front.    You can assess the type of consumer you have, by asking a few questions. When we determine that a consumer is simply price shopping and doesn't seem to have much of a regard for our solutions or service model, we let them know we prefer to develop longstanding relationships with our customers, and that our 91% client retention rating should indicate our level of commitment. If a prospective client doesn't want to see a demo, or want my customer testimonials or want to meet, I deem them to be not serious consumers and let them know we're probably not a best fit. I did ask a hotel owner if he would appreciate me walking into his establishment and demanding a 50% room rate reduction, and if he would honor that.   Don't be afraid to let prospective customers know that you DO NOT WORK FOR FREE.  Your services and time are not free.  Don't back away from your pricing.
