Air Graphics Continues a Long Tradition of Smart Bartering Through BOTA
When Business Owners Trade Alliance first launched in 2010, Air Graphics was there from the very beginning.
As one of BOTA’s original members, the company quickly became an outstanding example of what organized barter can really accomplish when a business fully embraces the concept.
Over the years, owners Mike and Fussy Doerrman used their trade account for an incredible variety of purchases and services — everything from advertising and commercial cleaning to landscaping and home improvements. They even used trade dollars toward their daughter’s wedding, meals at local restaurants, and entertainment, including tickets to see Billy Joel in concert.
Their experience perfectly illustrated one of the greatest strengths of organized barter: transforming excess production capacity into real purchasing power while preserving cash for expenses that cannot be paid through trade.
When the time came to sell the business, Mike gave the new owner, David Starke, an important piece of advice: continue the relationship with BOTA.
David did exactly that.
Since taking ownership, David has referred some outstanding businesses into the BOTA community and continues to be a highly respected and active member of the network, offering services that are incredibly valuable to fellow BOTA members throughout the region.
Air Graphics specializes in screen-printed apparel, large-format printing, signage, graphics, and promotional products designed to help businesses stand out and make a lasting impression. Their capabilities include banners, vehicle graphics, trade show displays, wall murals, window graphics, custom signage, branded apparel, and promotional materials that help companies elevate their visibility and professionalism.
One of the company’s standout specialties is its extremely high-end custom airbrushing work. Air Graphic has built a reputation for exceptional artistic talent, featuring some of the top airbrush artists on the East Coast. Their custom artwork and specialty finishes create truly unique visual pieces that demand a higher level of creativity and craftsmanship.
Stories like Air Graphics are exactly why BOTA exists.
A business joins the exchange, leverages its services strategically, preserves cash, builds relationships, and creates opportunities not only for itself, but for other businesses throughout the community. Over time, those relationships grow into referrals, partnerships, and long-term trust.
From being one of BOTA’s very first members to continuing that legacy today under David Starke’s ownership, Air Graphics remains a shining example of how organized barter can become a meaningful and lasting part of a successful business strategy.
The story of Air Graphics is also a story about relationships — relationships that began through barter and continued across multiple owners, many years, and countless business connections throughout the region.
That relationship-building aspect is one of the reasons Business Owners Trade Alliance continues to grow throughout Eastern and Central Pennsylvania and surrounding communities.
As operating costs continue to rise, many business owners are realizing it makes far more sense to leverage excess capacity than to leave money sitting on the table.
Business Owners Trade Alliance is actively seeking strong local businesses throughout Eastern and Central Pennsylvania that want to downtime, excess inventory, unsold advertising and underutilized resources into real purchasing power through organized barter.
