Hi Diane -
I like to think about what would be meaningful to the recipient? An experience, a memento, acknowledgement? These are all lovely ways to say Thank you, and there are many ways to go about it.
Experience - this presumes that your recipients have the time, energy and ability to attend an event - whether it is on campus or an off site experience. It's a great way to build community and create a positive buzz. So many ideas (I am also a professional event planner and I'd be happy to chat with you about how to pull some of these off, if you like.) I am nearby, I believe.
Audience mostly women: A Tea Party - high tea, encourage lovely hats, serve tea in cups and saucers (ideally china with flowers (you can used mismatched ones and even have some fun with matching up the cups and saucers), tiny sandwiches, delicate cookies, scones and fresh fruit. Each lady can go home with an edible treat or fresh flowers. May a harpist and flute could play for atmosphere. Elegant and fun.
Sunday Brunch - a special meal with entertainment (a piano and sing along?) Maybe at a local hotel or restaurant or at a botanical space.
Individual thank yous: Premium baked goods from a local bakery in a basket with a personal note, a subscription to a favorite magazine, fresh flowers or an easy to maintain plant (like jade) with a personal note - thanking them for your continued growth....
Shameless self promotion time: I do a program for families of residents - it's called the Caregiver Coffeebreak and it's all about committing to self care and finding ways to bring humor and grace into your life as you deal with the stress of caring for an elderly family member. I also have a new tip book that is compact and a big hit. Groups are buying a copy for everyone in the audience (I will sign them all) along with the program. It's about 45 minutes in length. I am a storyteller and it is a very enjoyable time for everyone. My website is https://BreedaMiller.com if you'd like more information.
I hope these ideas are helpful. You are on the right track in asking this very important question.
