About Us

SmallGyfts helps local businesses stop renting their customers from Google, Thumbtack, and Angi.

Most local service businesses finish a great job and then hope the customer remembers to tell someone. They don't. So the business goes back to buying cold leads from platforms that charge them $50 to $150 for someone who's shopping five competitors at the same time.

We built a simple system that fixes that. Every happy customer gets a reason to come back and a reason to send their friends, family, and neighbors your way. Some customers come back for the savings. Others connect to a local cause they care about and start telling their whole circle about your business.

The result: your marketing dollars stop leaving town and start working inside your own community. Your best customers become your best salespeople. And every dollar you spend either brings someone back or puts your name in front of people who already trust the person who sent them.

How We Got Started

I spent my career solving complex problems in engineering and IT. A few years ago I started asking: why do local businesses keep paying for customers that their happy customers should already be sending them?

SmallGyfts helps local businesses stop renting their customers from Google, Thumbtack, and Angi. Most businesses finish a great job and hope the customer tells someone. They don't. So the business goes back to buying cold leads at $50 to $150 a pop from people shopping five competitors at the same time.

We built a simple system that changes that. Every happy customer gets a reason to come back and a reason to send people their way. Some hold onto the card for the savings. Others connect it to a cause they care about and start spreading the business name through their church, school or neighborhood. Their marketing dollars stop leaving town. Every dollar they spend either brings someone back or puts their name in front of the community where they do business.

A cost effective way to give back to the community which also helps your business is to use an approach like giving SmallGyfts, a promo card with a discount off a future purchase and a small donation to your customer's favorite cause. They pick the cause, you get the credit for giving back. If they don't redeem the card for a nonprofit, it costs you nothing.

I support this effort. However, if we want to make a real difference this has to be an everyday activity, not just a once a year event. (more) I support this effort. However, if we want to make a real difference this has to be an everyday activity, not just a once a year event.

We give our customers a small donation, “small gift”, that they can give to their favorite cause when they buy our products or services using the SmallGyfts app. The app tracks every dollar given to every cause. I’ve outsourced, and continue to do so for many services that have clear deliverables, but too many have yielded negative ROI.

This allow you to display a QR code that others can scan to connect with you.  In a Zoom meeting, show your QR code, others scan so you’ve now instantaneously created a two way connection with everyone in the meeting. Let each person share their code as they introduce themselves so at the end of the session, everyone is now connected to everyone else.  Everyone leaves the meeting with the contact info and business profile of the people in the networking session so they can now start building a relationship and giving and getting referrals. (more) Morris, let me try to answer your question from two perspectives: 1) Benefit to people in my network and 2) Benefit to me.  1) I’ve been able to give business to several of my Alignable connections by purchasing services that I’ve needed. Benefit for them range from $100s to several thousand dollars. I think they would say that they have been successful on Alignable in at least finding business, if not growing their business. 2) While I cannot yet attribute any revenue directly to being on Alignable, it has help me to reach more prospects in a shorter time than other approaches that I’ve tried. It has helped me to refine and test my messaging and have meaningful conversations with businesses around the country. It has also been a good resource for learning from other businesses, again, faster than other sources that I’ve tried It has not been quick and it is definitely not easy but I believe it has been worthwhile which is why I am a Premium member.
