I very recently moved into a separate office space. As a professional voice talent, I found that I simply didn't have space in my home that I needed to create an isolated studio space. Not to mention all the distractions (Looking at YOU, cat)! Depending on your needs, I recommend looking into a shared work environment (co-working community). I found one in my area that I love. I have my own office, and the option to use any of the community spaces when I need/want to get out of the confines of my studio. And having access to other entrepreneurs for networking or simply community-building is a HUGE bonus.
I charge the same production rates... the difference is really in licensing. Traditionally speaking, professional VO receives a higher licensing fee (13-week cycle) for television than for radio. I tend to stick to a single licensing fee, rated at 13-week, full year, or (RARELY) full buyout.

I do the majority of my business online. While My chief means of connecting (outside the freelance websites I use) is to make phonecalls, send emails, or even make in-person visits to potential clients, I find Twitter is a way to stay top-of-mind with people I can't normally communicate with regularly. I also use it to keep track of what's happening in my industry, what sorts of new businesses are popping up that might make use of my services, etc. One of the biggest positives for me on Twitter is that it is sort of an add-on to word-of-mouth. I have one client in particular who not only shares my information with friends and acquaintances, but on TOP of that, also shares my tweets with his own followers and makes sure to put my name in front of as many potential clients in that way as he's able.
