How We Got Started
RJ's father (Karl Marx) started as a small sign painter who learned to do gold leaf. Karl taught his children to also do painting and gold leaf,which RJ has expanded on to create RJ Marx,Inc. Still using both the traditional brush and natural artistic ability combined with modern technology RJ Marx,Inc has grown into the unique business it is today

We have just had 2 of our three daughters join us in our company. Both have business degrees and have worked outside of the company for 10 years. Both had worked for us when they were younger, so they know the business. At work, they call us by our first names but outside they call us mom & dad. We have allowed them to change some things, but only after they have tried it our way - it's called respect. Before bring them into the business we discussed this with our other employees and addressed their concerns.
On the side, I own an unfranchised SHOP.COM/MARKETAMERICA web based business that complements our traditional graphics business. I can buy supplies for the office and sales area from myself and get paid! Knowing I will have an ongoing income stream makes retirement all the more attainable.

Remember" nobody likes to be sold-but everyone needs to buy" , so don't make it all about yourself, sometimes it is better to listen first to find out their needs or what they can do for your business. Many times a second meeting is scheduled to further explore or just get to know the person. Friends refer friends before referring strangers-it helps if you have some common ground that they will remember...
