How expensive it is to raise a family. When I first started my business, I was single and fat and happy. I got married and had a child and boy did things change. I know that doesn't directly address the question, however, starting the family really made me look a lot harder at my business process. I jumped into this business with my brother and we just sort did it. We borrowed some money from our father and started selling training on the Internet in 1995. It was a lot of fun then as there was not a whole lot of competition. Although we got lucky with some of the developers we aligned ourselves with early on, I wish we knew how to better plan our business from the beginning. Twenty-four years later we have worked it out, but with better planning at the beginning, we could have smoothed out the valleys and heightened the peaks. Use the 5 p's if you are just starting out.
