“Navi Chocolate strives to create artisan chocolate in a way that is environmentally friendly, socially conscious, and delicious.”
Joan started making chocolate when she discovered that 90% of the world’s chocolate is made through child slavery. She loves chocolate, and the thought of children being forced into labor so we could enjoy a chocolate bar did not sit well with her.
When friends and family started tasting the homemade chocolate, the idea of starting a small batch company was born.
In 2019, we started making steps to make our company a reality. One of the last things we decided was our name.
That year Joan had the opportunity to see the wolves at the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. Joan has loved wolves since she was a child, and the experience hatched the idea of bringing the two loves together. One of the majestic timber wolves at the sanctuary is named Navi. Navi means “be kind to people.” The name struck a chord.
The wolves have inspired more than just our name, though. Our products are (and will be) named to match the personalities of the wolves and wildlife at the center.
