As a community art center we don't make deals, we make friends and build relationships. We do this by inviting people for tours, partnering and offering low or no cost educational opportunities. We believe in building strong community relationships to help our art center thrive.

In addition to print, TV and social media outlets, we also make an effort to put ourselves out in the community to talk about the art center and invite people in for tours, First Friday, etc...Recently, we were asked to answer the phones for SOPTV during a pledge drive Six artists volunteered and the art center's Executive Director was interviewed. We were mentioned several times during the pledge time. Free exposure is wonderful!

After a customer has taken a class or purchased an item from me, I ask them in person if they would be willing to make a recommendation. If they say yes, I give them instructions and let them know I will follow up with them in a week. This way if they forgot, it is a gentle and expected...

If they say yes, I give them instructions and let them know I will follow up with them in a week. This way if they forgot, it is a gentle and expected reminder. Then I make sure to thank them both times. If they don't respond to my follow up, I let it go.
