How We Got Started

Over 35 years ago, my spouse, Michael, recognized the need for a carpet cleaning service in our Auburn and Finger Lakes Community. Quality Care Carpet Cleaners was realized on a bench outside the Auburn, NY, courthouse. Back then, we never dreamed that a small cleaning business would propel us into the corporate future it has! I was added full time as Vice President and Secretary. I still run the office while Michael oversees operations and cleaning.

Today, more than 35 years later, we take great pride in knowing that Quality Care Carpet Cleaners has become a successful business in CNY. We have cleaned for thousands of customers and have established ourselves in our community.

I tried Mailchimp and I did not get good results.  And I found it hard to use.  But it was the free version.

(more) Personal phone calls are in my book ALWAYS the best way to remind people of an appointment.  NOT a great way to tell them of a special though.  "CLICK.... sound of phone tone after someone hangs up"           Texting is a whole other level and experience.  This depends on if it is a personal directed communication for appointments or a business promotion.  I have 2 very separate ways of sending these types of communications so customers don't accidentally block upcoming appointments.  Which I ask for permissions on BOTH.  I wish my texting program was easier to use.  They were GREAT in the beginning.  And then they just left me on my own and are taking the $.  And it is NOT CHEAP! But it is a good way to get a special out fast.  You better have tough skin though.  Sometimes you never know the person's mood at the time they receive your business text.  I think THIS is what causes opt-outs.   And never over-send information.  That will get you blocked QUICK.

(more) This year is the first year in a decade Quality Care Carpet Cleaners has expanded our reach in CNY.  Due to the expansion we have seen extreme sales increases  January to Now.  It's Hard work establishing yourself in a new territory for a Family Owned Business, especially when there is Massive Franchises competing for the same business you are.  With the right online presence.  Some help from a new interactive website and some great work on Facebook that we update DAILY with specials for home cleaning, business cleaning and more and Here on Alignable our good works will continue to year 28 and beyond.

Being honest here.  I try to follow up with everyone to make sure they are happy with our service.  BUT sometimes we are BUSY!  I may miss a call or 2, but a nice thank you note always comes.  (old school)  Everyone gets a reminder in 6 months, then a year and so on.  If I have a special..it is... (more) Being honest here.  I try to follow up with everyone to make sure they are happy with our service.  BUT sometimes we are BUSY!  I may miss a call or 2, but a nice thank you note always comes.  (old school)  Everyone gets a reminder in 6 months, then a year and so on.  If I have a special..it is emailed or mailed directly  to "Preferred Clients" to keep our name in the forefront of their minds and to make them aware of seasonal services we offer.  This also keeps my contact lists current  for my customer base and for my customer  it is not to much advertising that I am hounding them.

I have worked long and hard to get the customer/friend base I have.  I post often and I try to make sure the ads I post are very eye catching.  If you have the time and patience you can get followers.  You just have to find what they are interested in, then keep their interest. That feeling when you see a before and after picture of the floor, carpet or furniture you just cleaned and it looks Fantastic!  It is so satisfying.  All the years of hard work, schooling and product reasearch came together right there in front of you and now you have a very happy customer.

When we opened Quality Care Carpet Cleaners 27 Years ago it was a slow climb to making money and seasonal  income was normal in the beginning.  We also and saw the state  Social Security was in.   The reality that it might not be there for us when we retire, my husband and I. We thought we better make sure we have something, some sort of income even if we are still part of the family business.  We started managing properties  in out 30's.  Hopefully we will have income from them in the future.  But, the pool of tenants has not been the best in this area lately.
