Sometimes using a short survey with two questions. On a scale of 1 to 10 how satisfied are you with our service/product? If below 8, why? On a scale of 1 to 10 how likely are you to refer us to someone? If less than 8, why? Another critical piece is how you ask the question? Do not ask if they know someone who might use you/ Ask them, "WHO" do you know? Then you must shut up and wait. This causes them to pause and think. So, everyone who is in a position to ask for referrals should be trained to ask this way. Give it a try! Eric
