Hey Sherry, funny story you won't believe... I've actually emails the Barrie Chamber, 4 times now over the course of 4 months. They have not got back to me once. I even tried contact direct admin emails. Very strange. I'd like to learn more about the SBC, BNI, PIA. When can i give you a call?

The evolution of this conversation is awesome...no slight against well run organized business groups, but real organic connections tend to run deeper than those that are contrived. Coffee in the am seems about right...Williams has space...any other small business coffee shops that people like/ prefer? (I am personally non franchised biased)

I think you may be on to something here. I do a lot of the one on ones in downtown Toronto. Plenty of interesting executives to grab coffee with, but i'd like to expand my network up here as well. There are organizations that you can join if you are just starting out or need to expand your client base. I would like to see Alignable set up a Meet & Greet for our area. Not one that is ongoing as we should all be too busy for that, rather annual or semi-annual. Something casual.......okay I might offer my backyard once the warmer weather arrives!

Why wait for Alignable. I would love to create a private Facebook or Google group and we can do a casual coffee every two months or so, and maybe one annual dinner or BBQ type event? Whoever can come is welcome to do so, and those who are busy can come next time. Could be a great way to meet some new friends and expand the network for everyone. Plus with the online group we can all keep in contact, share referrals, and interact just how we do here, but in a little more controlled and local environment.
