Networking Naturally
My journey into networking began at the Killick Gift Shop, my parents’ small handicraft store nestled along the road to Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia. As the eldest of seven daughters, I spent my childhood watching my mother connect effortlessly with tourists searching for local souvenirs. Her ability to create genuine relationships left a lasting impression on me, instilling the belief that business is as much about connections as it is about service.
But when I began my own career, I struggled to connect. Although I was a natural leader, I was painfully shy. The thought of promoting myself or even handing out a business card was overwhelming. Determined to overcome my fears, I turned networking into a personal challenge. I approached each interaction as an opportunity to learn—trying out different techniques and paying attention to what worked. Slowly but surely, I grew more confident, discovering that real connections stem from a genuine desire to help others succeed.
Over time, my commitment to strategic networking transformed my business, driving it to $5 million in annual sales—all through the power of referrals. Through that journey, I realized that meaningful networking isn’t about the numbers; it’s about creating real, trust-based relationships. Now, through Networking Naturally, I share the principles that helped me become a master networker so others can connect authentically and reach their goals.
