About Us
Our Mission is to rescue and rehabilitate the homeless animals of the City of Bella Vista. We provide food, shelter and medical care for animals in need until they can be adopted into loving homes. These are animals that would otherwise be left to search for food and defend themselves against predators.
How We Got Started
The Shelter was started in 1985 when a Bella Vista sheriff's deputy named Phil Sciumbato recognized the need to house the many abandoned animals in the then Village of Bella Vista. He started with an 8'x12' shed. The BVAS now gives love and care to over 700 lost or stray dogs and cats each year.
