Does Social Media really help or hurt small business?
Answered by:
There is a balance, but you should definitely not put a lot of time and effort into social media. Do the minimum so you have a presence, but put your efforts into targeted publicity and just do the best you can with each job to get some nice testimonials and referrals. You are only as good as your last job and if you can get a great testimonial or referral, that is worth more than any social media or blog post.

This is where we're feeling it matters most. Social media for helping with an online presence, but in our service oriented niche it is testimonials and word of mouth that drives our growth. I have yet to find a way to get that translated to the social media world in an effective way.
But don’t dicount what social media can do to get those testimonials out there. Word of mouth is the best advertising but if your business needs more exposure, there’s no faster and more economical way to get the word out! Good luck!
