Bryant Asset Protection is an independent insurance agency located just outside Albany, NY in the Town of Bethlehem, New York. For 70 years, Bryant Asset Protection has served the the Capital District, representing over 25 A rated insurance companies. Committed to learning our clients business and the risk exposures and then designing a program tailored to fit their needs from a competitive price and coverage standpoint. We were one of the early writers of Cybersecurity insurance and Computer Fraud and Funds Transfer coverage providing educational forums and advice to our clients and others about this significant new risk business face. Bryant Asset Protection also has a
wealth management division; Bryant Asset Management.

How We Got Started

The business was founded by Charles Bryant whose original office was located in the Alfred E Smith building in Albany. In the early 1980s Charles's sons entered the business bringing in commercial insurance knowledge as a result of years as a commercial lines underwriter and financial services knowledge after a stint with Profesco .

If your neighbor's tree falls in your yard who is responsible for the tree ?

I tend to  disagree with this statement. If your neighbors tree falls into your yard it’s your responsibility for removing the tree. A good neighbor generally will help with that process but from a legal standpoint is not required to do so. I mention this based on 35 years of experience with... A good neighbor generally will help with that process but from a legal standpoint is not required to do so. I mention this based on 35 years of experience with insurance companies and carriers .  If the tree was dead and dying and you notified your neighbor about this and asked him to remove it because it could be a future hazard and yes they may be responsible for the resulting damage it lands on your garage etc. but if it is a live tree which is simply falling in a bad storm is your responsibility.

Find an independent agent , they represent multiple carriers , you should request a quote from multiple carriers. Check to see if the policy has legal expenses within the liability limit or outside the limit. Double check the retention ( deductible, the amount you have to pay out of your pocket... Check to see if the policy has legal expenses within the liability limit or outside the limit. Double check the retention ( deductible, the amount you have to pay out of your pocket )quoted. If you don’t want your insurance company just settling the claim without your consent look for an endorsement called consent to settle or similar wording that allows you to have a say if the claim is settled just make it go away. Some policies list a description of services which lists the coverage for your wrongful acts make sure this definition is relatively broad and not too specific as it may eliminatedefending you for actions outside that description.
