writer
I have been a freelance editor and ghostwriter for over thirty years, working on books ranging from simple how-to guides to academic and scholarly works. My clients include university presses, commercial publishers, as well as individuals.
I'm the author of twelve mystery novels in three series, along with numerous short stories, reviews, and essays. In 1998 I co-founded The Larcom Review and in 2003 I co-founded Level Best Books. In 2021 I co-founded Crime Spell Books, which publishes an annual anthology of Best New England Crime Stories.
Over the years I've taught creative writing and editing courses at several colleges and universities in the Boston area. In addition I run workshops and give lectures at libraries and private institutions.
I've been writing since I was a teenager. In college I was the editor of the student humor magazine and published short fiction in the college literary magazine.
The Larcom Review and the anthologies that came later grew out of an interest in focusing on New England writers and their stories.
