Larry D Haas
Bexley Optical Boutique
We are a small, family owned business that caters to individuals needs, not the masses. With over forty years each in the optical field, Larry Haas and Steve Ford, who both graduated from Optical schools, a rarety in today's optical business, have the knowledge and expertise to take care of even the toughest fits and prescriptions. Bexley Optical has been in the same location since our opening in Bexley, Ohio in 1983. Using the highest quality frames available, and the latest technology with lenses, especially progressive addition "no-line" lenses, we make our customer's glasses in our own laboratory. This differs us from most other "optical" stores, which send all of their work to a wholesale laboratory who mass produces glasses and can have considerable differences. And if Larry or Steve can't solve an eye problem, they have their optometrist, Dr. Joe Blake, handle it.
This is actually kind of funny. I got fired! I worked at one of the few, highly respected optical companies. After about six months, my boss made me manager of my own store, I was the only employee there, in Upper Arlington. After about three and a half years, I was ready to open my own store, as I always thought one day I would. I tried to rezone a spot on popular Lane Ave. into retail space, and it was written up in the local Arlington paper that Larry Haas was trying to do this. A colleague showed this newspaper article to the boss, who immediately called me into his office, showed me the article, and promptly fired me. "You can't always trust a work mate". Needing to do something fast, I talked with a fiend in the business and he said Bexley needs a good optical, strange because there were five or six already in the neighborhood. Growing up on the east side of Columbus, and graduating from Eastmoor High School, it was a real natural choice. And it has been so wonderful!
