About Us

I write technical books for the heat exchanger using community and fictional and nonfictional books for the community of readers at large

How We Got Started

After retiring from my business of manufacturing shell-and-tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels, and beginn8ng a second career as a consultant, having a Professional engineer's license, McGraw-Hill offered me a contract to write A Working Guide to Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchangers. The book came out in 1970 and was successful. Now out of print, used copies sell for more than $400. Subsequently, I wrote two technical books with colleagues that are still on the market.

Later I wrote an autobiography, A Happy life, which led to my writing fictional and non-fictional works for the general readership audience

(more) I started my first business because a job with my professor of chemical engineering thermodynamics disappeared when he was fired from the organization where he worked along with being a professor. I was doing design and maintenance of heat exchangers and pressure vessels where I worked, so it was natural for me to start an engineering and design compsny that was successful. After I sold it to a mini conglomerate, I was on my way to ride a 10-speed bicyicle from Trondhein, Norway to Lisbon Portugal, when a past customer hired me to do consulting on double tubesheet heat exchangers that they were having manufactured in Linden, West Germany. I finished my bike trip in Paris because I was lonesome for my wife. When I returned there was a demand from organizations with which I had done business to consult on their problems, so I formed a consulting company that was very successful. I moved to Boulder, CO and began consulting on power generating plants, working with a knowledgeable colleague and friend. I wrote three technical books that McGraw Hill published, the most recent as lead author of "Closed Feedwater Heaters for Power Generation, published in November 2014. I retired after some surgery, but continue to consult on an ad hoc basis.
