Hill Country Fire Coalition of Texas is a nonprofit dedicated to building fire-resilient communities in Kendall County, Texas. The Coalition offers free property risk assessments and community workshops to educate and empower residents to reduce wildfire risks and enhance safety. We work with other nonprofits and contractors to perform fire mitigation along roadways and on private property. By fostering partnerships and promoting proactive measures, the Coalition aims to protect lives and properties from the devastating impacts of wildfires.
Kendall County, Texas, is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation with 94 percent of its growth occurring in the wildland urban interface--the place where most wildfires occur. A small group of volunteers recognized the need for a county-wide Community Wildfire Protection Plan and stepped up to help Kendall County create their plan. Once approved, some of the same volunteers created a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization--the Hill Country Fire Coalition of Texas, to help the County implement the plan. The Coalition is the first of its kind in the State of Texas.
