About Us

Fran's Journal is a website about cultures. I believe through an understanding of our diverse cultures we can learn to appreciate our differences, and accept and respect these differences.

How We Got Started

Maybe because I am an adopted Canadian from a foreign culture I see life a little differently. My vision is to create opportunities through travel and social interaction and bring our diversities together. The goal is to learn to appreciate our differences and broaden our horizons. Aesop's wisdom "United we stand, divided we fall" is in need of a little help. By creating cultural trails built on foundations of acceptance, respect, trust and equality, we can help strengthen that wisdom and bring some peace back to Mother Earth

To me, it feels like humanity has been led to the top of a spinning top which is spinning in an energy of fear, mistrust and misunderstandings. My passion is to help change this energy and start spinning this spinning top with understanding and appreciation of our diversities. I believe this can be done by using cultural tourism as a vehicle and creating tours where, through social interactions, we have fun together based on virtues of acceptance, respect, trust, and a belief in equality for all.  Who knows what new doors can open and what new ventures can be explored.

I would suggest it was something that is grown locally. I live in a community that is abundant with oysters and clams, so that would be something I would offer. We also have scallop farms. So I would put something together utilizing these 3 items along with local wine that is produced here.   (more) I would suggest it was something that is grown locally. In our sleepy village of Bowser, BC we had a yoga studio which worked on donations. It had to close its doors as the rent was jacked up. The owner has tried to find another venue in the area that would work but to no avail. It means travelling now, which when you live in a rural environment is not so agreeable, especially with the cost of gas. Apart from this, we have been fortunate in our sleepy little village that the more established and basic stores have survived and flourished.

I have had the opportunity to live and experience a few diverse cultures. I believe this has taught me appreciation our diversities and cancelled out fears of the unknown.
