Susan Clawson - A BROKEN WORLD (adapting to a TV series)
A BROKEN WORLD is a realistic story that introduces survivors of a Global Pandemic that wiped out 90% of its population.
It infected those who lived inside, among wood, metal, and concrete structures. Once a burn mandate spread, survivors were forced to live outside, in tents, fields, and on the streets. All modes of transportation were nonexistent, and power grids worked sporadically. Some foods were brought into distribution hubs and carefully dispersed.
The story initially focuses on survivors in the small state of Vermont. Rosa Wells, a 16-year-old, convinces many of them to follow her on a tempestuous 45-day foot journey to an inland peninsula in Kentucky. It is one of the few areas within the U.S. that professes to be virus-free.
We follow them throughout the journey. A true test of human resilience as they endure new friendships, romance, controversies, violence, and even death along the way.
