Lost Pet Services (LPS) fills a unique community need. As a trusted safety-net organization, LPS provides services to help keep safe and care for cherished companion animals in a unique way. We are dedicated to keeping pets home safe, healthy, and happy with the families they love through financial aid, education, and community outreach.
All services provided are free of charge to our community. By providing free microchips, free ID tags, financial support to those struggling with shelter fees, medical funding for injured stray pets and owned, loved pets injured while they are lost, we are able to keep more family pets out of the overcrowded local shelters and home safe with their families. We also donate microchip scanners to our local police and others who help out in our community.
We work in conjunction with local animal shelters, police departments, veterinarian offices, rescue, and animal welfare groups to promote responsible pet ownership to help reunite lost pets and get them home safe with the main objective of keeping loved family pets out of our over-crowded shelters.
The Lost Found Pets 941 group was created in 2013 when its founder, Patty Giarrusso, lost her two dogs, Jackson Browne and Rocko. She then embarked on a mission. That mission has led to the Lost and Found Pets 941 (Lost Pet Services) Facebook group which is now the largest, most active lost and found organization in the Manatee and Sarasota Counties area covering Sarasota, Bradenton, Palmetto, Parrish, Ellenton, Venice, Northport, Myakka and areas beyond. The group has over 42,000 followers and grows by approx. 100s of members every month. They have successfully reunited 1,000s of local pets with their owners.
Besides their amazing work of reuniting lost pets, Lost Pet Services funded over $140,000 in medical care for injured strays and owned pets injured while they were lost -- most due to injuries after being hit by cars.
Patty, together with her volunteers and board members work around the clock helping people all over the community.
