The general expectation of a notary is to verify a signer's identification, then stamp and sign a document or set of documents.  How then can a notary offer "above and beyond" service?  

As a highly rated and preferred notary I exceed expectations in several ways.  I take the time to get to know my client(s) and their precise need.  I ask questions to make sure I am well prepared and am legally able to notarize their document(s).  I offer additional services such as scanning, printing extra copies or delivering their documents for shipping, etc. at no additional cost.  I always try to meet the signer when and where convenient for them.  Probably one of the most important aspects of being a mobile notary is simply to show up.  I am so often surprised to hear stories of appointments made only for the notary to never show or communicate any change of plans with their client.  

Notaries always have to be mindful of what information they share so as nothing said is construed as the unlawful practice of law.  To that end, however, notaries have the responsibility to stay apprised of their state's laws so as to not notarize anything improperly.  There is a lot more to being a notary than offering a stamp and a signature.  I continually strive to exceed expectations and to raise the bar of standards one should meet.  So when it is said, "Not all notaries would do that" is when I say, "I'm not like all notaries."
