Braintree Community Arts Center
Braintree Community Arts Center
The Braintree Community Arts Center (BCAC) opened its doors in June 2015 as Braintree’s cultural asset that celebrates the arts for ALL to enjoy. Whether you define the arts as painting, writing, music, yoga, knitting, quilting or some other worthwhile endeavor, the BCAC is a place to learn and grow at all ages.
In this renovated space, we offer a variety of constantly changing classes, workshops and programs, which inspire young and old, developing artistic skills and strengthening the appreciation of all art forms in our community.
The BCAC will be a great gathering space for all to share in and benefit from. We are open to residents of surrounding communities and artists of all ages and levels!
Our town’s past identifies itself with history and our future is dependent upon being creative and recognizing the intrinsic value of the Arts.
In September 2013, Mayor Joe Sullivan with the support of the Braintree Town Council enthusiastically endorsed a plan for renovating a long-vacant town property so that it could be used as a venue to support a new community art center. An allocation of $230,000 from the town’s community preservation fund was put forth to cover the costs of the rehabilitation of the structure, which sits
prominently on Washington Street (Route 37) adjacent to the new Highlands Playground.
Town officials partnered with students from the Blue Hills Regional Vocational School to perform renovations at the 100-year-old home.
With generous contributions from local businesses and neighbors, in the winter of 2015 we raised substantial funds to get the center up and running.
