The Caregiver Link
The Caregiver Link was born from lived experience — not formal training, not theory, and certainly not a step-by-step guide. I’m a family caregiver who learned through trial and error. For years, I supported my parents while managing a demanding career in higher education. No one prepares you for eldercare planning, and the information is scattered and overwhelming. I was caught off guard by the complexity, the paperwork, and the red tape. Later, watching friends and family struggle in similar ways, I felt called to help others navigate this challenging season with more clarity, confidence, and compassion.
Caregiving touches every part of our lives — physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and financially. It can affect our health, relationships, sense of purpose, and overall well-being. Because the challenges are so wide-reaching, caregivers need more than just medical information or practical tips. A truly holistic approach is essential — one that supports the whole caregiver and the whole person receiving care, addressing not only physical needs but also emotional resilience, social connection, financial planning, and personal values throughout the journey.
In 2019, I lost both of my parents within one month — a heartbreaking season that revealed how deeply caregiving can drain you physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially when you’re carrying it largely on your own. My father had been my mother’s caregiver for many years, and when he passed away first, everything shifted overnight. Suddenly, I found myself in the deep end of eldercare planning — navigating hospitals, healthcare systems, paperwork, and decisions I didn’t feel prepared to make.
The impact of those years didn’t fade when caregiving ended. My own health was affected, and it reshaped how I understand wellness, support, and the urgent need for clear, accessible information. While sharing my story on a podcast, I realized something meaningful: this was more than a personal experience — it was a calling to help others navigate their own caregiving journeys.
As a caregiver navigator, I bring the fragmented aging-care world into one coordinated conversation.
