Labor and Postpartum support
My goal is for clients to have a satisfying and joyful birth experience through continuous support and informed choices. Natural or using medication, home/hospital/or birth center, I am committed to supporting their wishes. I can demonstrate a variety of non-medical techniques for comfort and pain relief. I can also assist the partner in supporting the laboring woman. After the baby has arrived, new parents can become overwhelmed. I also recognize the needs of the early postpartum weeks and want to make the transition to new parenthood as smooth as possible - whether it's someone's first baby or their fifth! My role is to "mother the mother" - doing those things which need to be done such as laundry, meal preparation, light housekeeping and errands so she can focus on her baby. I am trained to support breastfeeding and can recognize difficulties to make the appropriate referrals. I can also listen and help a new mother to process her feelings about her birth. I can give referrals for overnights if desired.
