How to Use AI in Your Networking Without Losing the Human Side
Posted by:
Greetings Don, it is interesting to see the mirroring and parallels between your latest article and the non-extractive philosophy I have advocated for years in this space.
My comments on your March 6th article and my own post this past Monday both emphasized moving away from transactional silos and toward the intentional follow-through I prioritize in my own work.
As I noted earlier this week, consistency is the quiet engine of our growth, but the real resonance happens when we stop "building a list" and start cultivating a legacy.
The Vocabulary of Connection
I noticed the advice to cut over-polished scripts and "synergy" jargon.
Clear always beats clever, yet I do believe seeking synergy and alignment is far better than the "default" many are currently using.
Frankly, the use of the word Synergy speaks to a higher frequency interaction and transformational mindset versus transactionals and extractive behaviors. I would lean into that a lot more that than the automated "Do you recommend X?" emails that often arrive 24–48 hours after a connection is made on Alignable.
AI requires common sense; otherwise, it is just "slop in, slop out," replicating the same sloppy networking habits people have been groomed and domesticated to accept.
Connection Over Extraction
Your focus on "signal extraction" and the risk of generic outreach mirrors the core of my Abundant ASK™ framework.
Moving beyond automated prompts to add maturity and emotional resonance is how we move from a "hollow" connection to a relationship of mutual support.
Hopefully, people take that mindset into their use of AI as a tool to organize and plan their networking and prospecting.
Rest-Informed Rhythm
A steady, low-pressure networking rhythm is the only way to protect our energy while we scale "human-first" impact.
I appreciate seeing these "Sage and Salient" principles reflected here to help shift the culture toward curiosity and integrity.
