(more) Early in my now 20 years in the wholesale business, I was guilty of this same mistake also, because you are so hungry for any business you can get your hands on, I learnt later to inform our suppliers of some of these customers that I had some suspicions about, some suppliers were nice enough to protect me, but unfortunately we live in a time when many if not most manufacturers are very willing to set up anyone and even sell direct to your customers if they get a chance; we now do not entertain anyone who we suspect of this, in our line of business most manufacturers have very high minimums (truck load) in order to purchase direct from them, so we are diligent that we are now helping someone to build their business, just to have them go after our customers; good, intimate relationships with your suppliers is a must, in order to limit this from happening.
