I have found that building relationship and rapport with customers has been key. People buy from people they trust and that takes some effort but it is so worth it! It is essential that you have a working contract or at least a signed document from your client that states exactly the work that will be done and fees that will be paid for that work. It is essential that you have a working contract or at least a signed document from your client that states exactly the work that will be done and fees that will be paid for that work. Timeframe and payment schedule included. If it is a large project and you are investing a lot in it, a portion of 30% upfront is not unreasonable - particularly if this is a new client you have not worked with before.
